Scary night on pub street

This year’s Angkor What? Bar Halloween party went off with a bang on Saturday night, with close to 150 frightful participants – nearly double last year’s turnout – spooking their way down Pub St.

Organiser Charlie Kumar was delighted with the throng, saying, “This year exceeded my expectation. The count was 143 people, but I'm sure I missed out a few. The effort made by all who participated was fantastic. The characters who won the prizes put an incredible amount of creativity into their costumes.

''Special mention should go to Harris for his disturbing clown costume. I would like to thank all who came and made this event such a spook-tastic night.”

Winner of the $300 first prize was Georgia MacDonald as an Angry Bird. John-Daniel Solhaug won second prize dressed as Pavarotti, and Tania Palmer came third with her frog costume.

Runner-up bar tabs went to Darren Pomroy as Edward Scissorhands, Sherry Trailor as an Oompa Loompa, and petrifying punk duo Diane Ayres and Liz Hutchins with a simply frightening amount of hairspray.
