Assault charge haunts man on Kandal return

Some legal confusion saw a cold case in Kandal province warm up considerably for a former fruit seller who thought he was off the hook for a four-year-old assault charge.

Police said the man had attacked another at a party in 2009 before skipping town. When he returned on Monday, police were quick to act on the old warrant.

The suspect, however, expressed dismay, saying he had already compensated the victim. He was sent to court all the same. NOKORWAT
