In Brief: ASEAN deal ratified

A REGIONAL trade agreement paving the way for the free flow of goods in the ASEAN region was ratified Monday by the Senate. The ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement was signed in February by Commerce Ministers of the 10 ASEAN nations at a regional summit in Cha-am, Thailand. It is designed to achieve the free flow of goods in the region as a principal means to establish an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015. The AEC will feature a single market and production base. The agreement was ratified by the National Assembly last week.
