Inflation as measured by the consumer price index increased 3.7 percent in October, compared to the same month last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Food prices – which represent over 43 percent of the index – were up 4.6 percent in October 2010 compared to 2009. Chicken prices increased 6.1 percent, fish was up 9.9 percent, and leaf and stalk vegetables – as displayed in Psar Chas in Phnom Penh yesterday – climbed 15.2 percent.
