New 2000 Riel Note

A batch of brand new 2000 riel notes entered circulation on January 7. The notes-which

bear an image of Preah Vihear temple on one side and a woman harvesting rice on the

other-are worth about 50 US cents. The new notes do not represent a net increase

of riel in the market. They will replace an equal value of 1000 riel notes which

have been taken out of circulation as they are too tattered.
