Malaysia's biggest telecommunications provider Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has deemed
Cambodia an investment priority. At a Malaysian press conference to announce its
2007 investment strategy, executive director Yusof Annuar Yaacob said TM plans to
expand its operations in the Cambodian market, where it has invested $59 million
over the past three years. TM is the market leader in nine Asian countries and now
owns 100 percent of Cambodia Samart Telecommunications Co Ltd (Casacom) -- soon to
be renamed TMIC -- after buying a 49 percent share last year. Yaacob said he expects
TMIC to become the leading communications company in Cambodia.
