Car battery thief could have used a jump start

An ill-timed act of opportunistic theft ended with a man in Phnom Penh’s Prek Leap commune being caught red-handed on Saturday.

Police said a security guard at a local warehouse had momentarily left his post, forgetting to lock the door.

Seeing a chance for an easy score, the suspect allegedly entered and grabbed a few car batteries.

Before he could make his escape, however, the guard returned, spotted the suspect and detained him for police. KOH SANTEPHEAP
