Dumb smartphone use leads to theft, arrest

A tourist learned the hard way on Sunday that smartphone usage in Phnom Penh’s public spaces requires a weather eye and keen property preservation instincts.

Police said the woman was caught up in taking photos near Wat Phnom when the suspect, a 29-year-old man, came up behind her, snatched it from her hand and ran.

Patrolling cops managed to chase the thief down, but not before he had broken the phone as he attempted to toss the evidence. KAMPUCHEA THMEY
