Employee’s best laid plans quickly go awry

The allure of instant gratification tempted a shopworker into a life of crime on Wednesday. The man’s boss had told him to go collect $300 from a customer, and sensing an opportunity to end his day-to-day drudgery, the man stole two security guards’ mobile phones on his way out of the shop and disappeared.

When he failed to return, the shop’s owner called the client who said he had given the money to the employee. A phone call later, police tracked down and arrested the errant employee. KOH SANTEPHEAP
