The government will hold a full-scale emergency exercise at Phnom Penh International Airport on Tuesday to prepare officials on emergency procedures in the event of a plane crash. Mao Havanall, secretary of state for civil aviation, said in a statement that the exercise – to be held every two years – will involve ambulances, fire trucks and real fires to simulate an actual crash, and that the public should be warned, as there might be “confusion” about the event. Neth Vantha, director of the fire prevention office at the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, said Friday that his department had been asked to join the drill. “I have to be cautious if there is a plane crash. How should we save passengers?” he said.
