Municipal police have arrested a 50-year-old British national they believe paid to have sex with two underage girls, officials said yesterday.

The suspect was arrested at a guesthouse in Kandal province’s Kien Svay district on Sunday night.

Police also arrested a 46-year-old tuk-tuk driver who allegedly arranged for the suspect to have sex with the girls, aged 11 and 12. The owner of the guesthouse as well as the mother of one of the girls were also arrested.

Keo Thea, director of the municipal Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Bureau, said yesterday that the arrest followed several days of investigation.

“He was staying in the room with the two girls who he had sex with for six days, and who he paid US$1,500 each for a weeklong contract before we arrested him on the last day,” he said.
