Kay Kimsong currently Editor-in-Chief for The Phnom Penh Post Khmer in Phnom Penh-one of the country’s independent daily Khmer-language newspaper dedicated to strengthening a free press, training journalists and fully operating commercial newspaper. Kimsong’s role mainly edited articles and managing newsroom which reemployed nearly 30 reporters and editors. The Post is an independent commercial newspaper owned by a group of Australian business people.Kimsong joined Phnom Penh Post newsroom in April 15, 2008 as Chief of Staff. His role was basically as assignment editor. With his well performance, Kimsong had promoted to be Editor-in-Chief for Post Khmer (PK) since September 9, 2009 till nowadays.Kimsong basically started his journalism career with The Cambodia Daily one of English language independent newspaper in February 1997, the year of the Asia financial crisis.

There is no doubt Kimsong has been developed from a difficulties background to reach out a better life. He always hopes that one day he could be become “A man who is highly respected from my community”. He is shy to describe on his funny background.In 1996 he was spun records event faster than editing stories. His introduction to Phnom Penh’s corruption and greed began not as a Cambodia Daily reporter or Phnom Penh Post’s editor but as a manager of the Hong Kong Center nightclub and restaurant.

“By night I smoked cartons of Mild Seven cigarettes and watched Ecstasy transform hardened gangsters into rag dolls swaying to fast music in slow motion. I was thin then, and my hair—thick, curly and big—was a statement as loud as the records I spun” Kimsong said

Well and today as Editor-in-Chief, of the Phnom Penh Post Khmer, Kimsong’s job kept him stuck in the newsroom for at least 13 hours a day. “Working long hours and less sleep is the job he likes”. He said “Now, I have my own secretary and assistant, known better as a wife and son. My hair is short but my foresight long”.
