American Citizen Services Assistant

 

The U.S. Mission in Phnom Penh is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of American Citizen Services Assistant for the Consular Affairs Office, Department of State.

 

The incumbent serves as American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant in the Phnom Penh consular district, fulfilling a core objective of the Department of State. S/he works on the full range of emergency services involving the death, hospitalization, arrest, and welfare/whereabouts of U.S. citizens in Cambodia as well as processing all routine services including citizenship services, registration, and federal benefits. S/he actively and independently resolves issues, and works with a Consular Officer or other Locally Employed (LE) staff when appropriate.
  Salary: The annual salary range for this position is USD 13,296 – 20,602.

 

Required Qualifications
  EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, business administration, law, or communications is required.

 

EXPERIENCE: Two years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulatory material and problem solving, along with experience in developing contacts and/or dealing with the public is required.

 

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Khmer are required. (This will be tested.)

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess very strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and have the ability to work decisively and independently in stressful situations, often outside of regular working hours. Must have knowledge of basic computer systems and applications.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be familiar with Cambodian government regulations concerning foreigners’ visas, police procedures, criminal law, customs enforcement, marriage regulations, and Cambodian nationality law.
