The World Food Programme (WFP), the Food Aid Organization of the United Nations, is seeking applications from Cambodian nationals to fill the following position:
Position title: Communications and Performance​ Reporting Officer Number of position: One Type of Contract: WFP Service Contract Grade: WFP Range IV/SC9 (equivalent to FT-NOB) Duration: 6 months, extendable Duty Station: WFP Country Office, Phnom Penh
Organizational Context and Role: Under the direct supervision of the Country Director and in close collaboration with WFP colleagues across functional areas, UN colleagues, NGO partners and Government counterparts, the candidate will:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive): ♦ Develop and implement country specific communication work plans and support fundraising activities. ♦ Undertake research and analysis, and prepare and share information products with target audience(s). ♦ Collate, analyse and disseminate relevant information and data from traditional and social media and local internal and external sources. ♦ Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFP’s work to the traditional and social media. ♦ Generate donor specific visibility content including, text, photos, videos and audio for use across a range of integrated (online) platforms, in order to support fund-raising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages; maintain library of relevant materials. ♦ Contribute to the development of programme and strategy documentation, and funding proposals. ♦ Assist in development of appropriate communication materials for programme visibility, beneficiary awareness and sensitization, and counterpart familiarization. ♦ Strengthen WFP’s knowledge management through establishment and maintenance of a repository of strategically relevant, locally developed materials and documents, ensuring harmonization of quality and appearance, and make materials available for internal and external sharing. ♦ Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports in collaboration with programme, monitoring & evaluation, logistics and resource management colleagues and WFP’s Area Offices. ♦ Support capacity building of WFP staff on all aspects of communication, information management and performance reporting, provide advice and guidance in order to ensure that all activities meet desired standards of coherence, consistency, quality and impact. ♦ In context of emergency preparedness and response, support WFP to quickly respond at the onset of a crisis, ensure consistency in humanitarian information management, and provide support to Humanitarian Response Forum communications activities. ♦ Participate in and contribute to UN and government working groups as relevant to their thematic mandate and/or ad hoc support needs. ♦ Any other duties as required and appropriate.
OTHER POST REQUIREMENTS ♦ General knowledge of information management best practices, techniques and processes with some understanding of the basic theoretical background. ♦ Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and writing skills. ♦ Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly assimilate, UN/WFP specific processes and systems. ♦ Still and/or video photography and image editing. ♦ Desk top publishing.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Advanced University degree in Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications or other relevant field (including Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Business Management, Social Sciences) or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses. Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional work experience to the requirement of the post Language: Fluency (level C) in English and Khmer languages.
