Emerging Markets Investment Advisers (“EMIA”) is a Singapore-based Registered Fund Management Company (“RFMC”) regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. We provide growth capital to dynamic and growing companies in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Our headquarters is located in Singapore and we have established offices in Phnom Penh and Yangon with existing investment teams. EMIA manages two private equity funds, having closed our most recent fund in December 2015. We seek talented and ambitious individuals to help us execute outstanding private equity investments at the highest professional and ethical standards.
ESG Officer – Cambodia-based (also serving Singapore, Laos, Myanmar needs)
We are seeking to build our team with the addition of an ESG Officer based in our Cambodia office. The person will lead implementation and development of the Environmental and Social Management System for the company and ensure compliance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments of the company, its managed funds and their portfolio companies. Both on-the-job and formal training/coaching will be provided.
Responsibilities ♦ Oversee the fund manager’s implementation of its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) as well as the governance and integrity issues which it addresses; ♦ Assist the company in continually improving its ESMS and supporting processes; ♦ Assist and advise deal teams and contribute to the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into the broader investment process; ♦ Ensure that all investment decisions are supported by appropriate ESG due diligence and reporting; ♦ Monitor, alongside deal teams, investee companies’ on-going compliance with ESG commitments and reporting requirements and develop, implement and supervise corrective actions and remedies when needed; ♦ Develop the fund manager’s annual ESG performance report to stakeholders; ♦ Travel to Laos, Myanmar and Singapore as required.
Qualifications & Experience ♦ Current or previous experience working in a similar role, such as within a financial institution, within industry or in a consultancy; ♦ Degree in a related discipline, e.g. finance, law, economics, business, environmental science, would be an advantage; ♦ Previous exposure to the IFC Performance Standards would be an advantage; ♦ Knowledge of investment and asset management would be an advantage; ♦ Strong desire to work in the private equity industry and a willingness to learn; ♦ Excellent English communication skills, including report-writing skills; ♦ Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to interact with investment colleagues and investee companies; ♦ High ethical and professional standards.
