Kandal guard answers call to rescue mobile

A Kandal province hotel security guard scored a few PR points for the oft-derided profession when he came to a young tourist’s aid on Sunday.

The Czech Republic national was walking from the Khsach Kandal district hotel to a restaurant for dinner, when a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old on a motorbike drove by and snatched her phone, police said.

When the woman shouted for help, a nearby security guard jumped into action, caught up with the alleged thieves and held them until police arrived. Both suspects were sent to court. KOH SANTEPHEAP
