The ADB has approved a $16 million loan for a package of infrastructure and training
programs aimed at stimulating the rural economy of Kampong Thom province.
Among the work the money will be used for will be the restoration of a Khmer Rouge
era irrigation system which will enable a second crop of wet season rice to be grown
over 7000 hectares. The project will also repair 150 kilometers of rural roads, upgrade
the local market and hold training courses for farmers.
