Boxing boycott

Cambodia's national boxing team will boycott a regional tournament in Bangkok next

month in protest at the sport being called Thai boxing. According to the German press

agency DPA, Prum Bun Yi, director of the Cambodian Olympic Committee, said the national

team would not attend the King's Cup unless organizers of the tournament deleted

"Muay Thai" from the event's title. He said Thais had borrowed the sport

from the 9th-15th century Khmer empire.
