A toddler drowned on Monday while his father was sleeping on a nearby riverbank in Kandal province’s Muk Kampoul district. Prek Anhchanh commune chief Moung Chea said yesterday that the two-year-old boy was taken by his father to a river near their house to go fishing. “[His father] fell asleep on the riverbank and his son went to play in the water. His father woke up and found that his son had drowned in the water. We are sorry this has happened,” he said. “It was careless of his father [to fall asleep] ... His parents should have taken better care of him.”
