In Brief: De-mining to eradicate poverty

Villagers in Battambang province have called on policy makers and international development partners to clear land of mines and explosives as a poverty eradication strategy, according to a UNDP press statement issued Friday during the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. "Without access to safe land, Cambodians can't grow food, build homes and construct roads," said Jo Scheuer, UNDP country director.
