Twenty-seven people were released from jail on Tuesday after being detained following a confrontation between protesters and government authorities at an eviction in Poipet, Banteay Meanchey province. The detainees were among a group of around 40 people who protested the court-ordered eviction, which ended a long-simmering land dispute between a businessman and six local families. A land broker, an SRP commune council member and an NGO worker remain in jail.
