The government has donated US$1.2 million to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to assist poor Cambodians affected by food insecurity from the economic crisis. "Concerted efforts by all stakeholders are important and needed to find solutions to counter short- and long-term food insecurity," said Yim Chhay Ly, deputy prime minister and chairman of the Council for Agriculture and Rural Development in a WFP press release Wednesday. The donation will allow rice to be distributed throughout July to vulnerable groups of people.
