Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Mu Sochua said Monday that she would be willing to appear in Phnom Penh Municipal Court without a lawyer on July 24, when she is scheduled to face defamation charges filed by Prime Minister Hun Sen. Sok Sam Oeun, executive director of the Cambodian Defenders Project (CDP), said Monday that he had not agreed to defend Mu Sochua, adding that he would only do so if the court asked him to. He said this was customary for CDP lawyers, who typically defend people who are unable to afford their own lawyers.
