The Buddhist Institute has published a book on its 75 years of history in Khmer and
English, including colorful anecdotes and biographies of leading monks .
Set up in 1930, the Buddhist Institute remains the oldest functioning institution
in Cambodia, and has survived both strong colonial and nationalist management.
Sandra Jones, research adviser at the Buddhist Institute, said the institute was
aiming to be at the forefront of not just research in Khmer civilization, history
and religion - but also controversial areas such as the cultural implications of
HIV/AIDS.
