Cambodia has suggested a road link similar to the trans-Asia rail line from Singapore
to China to expedite growth in Mekong basin countries.
Foreign Minister Ung Huot told Malaysian reporters the proposed road would pass through
Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma and "hopefully Laos", Malaysia's
Bernama news agency reported. The suggestion was to be discussed at a two-day ASEAN-Mekong
Basin development cooperation ministrial meeting last week.
