Diarrhoea deaths rise to six in Ratanakkiri

A 67-year-old man died of acute watery diarrhoea on Tuesday night in Ratanakkiri province’s Lumphat district, becoming the sixth person to succumb to the illness since Sunday, officials said. Pev Vil, the chief of Lbung 1 commune, said Mong Krarng died in Kateung village on Tuesday. Two deaths were reported on Sunday and three more on Monday. Pev Vil said Wednesday that the village was nearly deserted, as most residents had fled into the forest. Meanwhile, four villagers have been sent to Ratanakkiri provincial hospital for treatment, he said.
