Diplomatic spat

An unsigned government letter sent to all foreign embassies this week contained a

thinly veiled attack on US Ambassador Kent Wiedemann's comments about corruption.

It seems that Wiedemann's comment at an anti-corruption conference last week annoyed

the government.

He was quoted as saying: "In other countries, if leaders are found to be corrupt

they are thrown out." The letter advised other countries to stay out of Cambodia's

internal affairs.
