Unscrupulous dog walkers beware – the Phnom Penh municipality is cracking down on animal defecation in Phnom Penh’s parks, an official confirmed yesterday.
Phnom Penh Deputy Governor Khuong Sreng yesterday said the city was mulling fines for those who allow their animals to relieve themselves in public parks.
“One builds parks for people to relax and exercise, not for people to smell pets’ poo,” Sreng said. “There are more people in the city, and there are more pets as well. We want people to have discipline in pet-raising.”
According to an item on state news outlet AKP, the new directive will first be implemented at Wat Botum park, Hun Sen park, and the parks adjoining the Royal Palace and the Independence Monument.
