Fishermen cry foul

VILLAGERS punished for raising illegal snakehead fish in Kandal province’s Ponhea Leu district yesterday accused fisheries officials of accepting bribes from fish breeders. Yong Yang, 35, from whom 15,000 snakeheads were confiscated on Sunday, said he was angry that police were letting illegal breeders bribe their way out of trouble. “The confiscation is not fair since not all the illegal fish were seized,” he said. Manh Pov, deputy chief of the district Fisheries Administration, denied the accusation.
