The Australian government will donate A$4 million (US$2.1 million) for food aid
delivered through the World Food Program (WFP). The food is to relieve critical
food shortages facing the country's poorest people. Some will be used in "food
for work" programs that improve rural infrastructure, including building roads
and irrigation canals.
