Foot-and-mouth outbreak subsides

OFFICIALS from the Ministry of Agriculture visited Rattanakiri province yesterday to assess a minor outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, after the death of 17 head of cattle last week. Sev Twel, an official with Rattanakiri’s O’Yadav district Animal Health Office said yesterday that the situation had improved since vaccinations were administered. Kao Phal, director of the animal health and department at the Ministry of Agriculture, said it was just a small outbreak and that officials were dealing with the problem.
