Eight people were allegedly held captive in a casino room by six Vietnamese men, four of whom stand accused of kidnapping and extortion, at VIP Casino in Svay Rieng province on Sunday. Police were contacted by a family in Vietnam who claimed that one of their relatives was kidnapped at the Bavet town casino and that an unknown man had demanded a US$1,000 ransom due to a $100 debt. Police continue to search for two suspects who remain at large, both of whom are employees at the casino and are suspected of being accomplices in the crime, said police chief Koev Kong.
