HIV law passed

The National Assembly passed the country's first HIV/AIDS law on June 14,

making it illegal to discriminate against people who are HIV positive. It is now

also illegal to knowingly infect another person, and people with the disease

must tell their spouse or sexual partner. Around 2.8 percent of Cambodia's adult

population are HIV positive, the highest rate in Asia. The government hopes the

law will help curb the spread of the disease.
