Hotelier bailed

Rudolph Knuckel, a Swiss hotelier arrested on January 22 in Siem Reap on charges

of debauchery and rape involving boys was granted bail on June 22 by Cambodia's Supreme

Court.

Children's rights activists expressed dismay at the approval of Knuckel's bail application,

saying that Knuckel, who is in possession of his passport, would flee Cambodia rather

than face trial.

Knuckel has consistently declared his innocence.
