HRP calls for opposition unity

Opposition parties who support democracy must unite or face defeat by the ruling Cambodian People’s Party in the next election, according to a statement from the Human Rights Party issued in advance of today’s one-year anniversary of its agreement to eventually join forces with the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP). Little progress has been made towards the proposed merger. SRP spokesman Yim Sovann said, however, that the party was still open to the idea.
