Cambodia commemorates its 48th Independence Day today. King Norodom Sihanouk,

Queen Norodom Monineath, government leaders, officials and diplomats will take part

in a ceremony at the Independence Monument to celebrate the Kingdom's break from

France in 1953. The King and Queen will light a victory flame in a brazier at the

Independence Monument, which will be followed this evening by a fireworks display

and performances in the capital.
