Vietnam's inflation rate was only four percent during the first 10 months of this

year, according to the official Vietnam News Agency.

In Oct. the price index of goods and services fell 0.3 percent from Sep.

From Jan. to Oct. Food prices increased 6.3 percent while prices of industrial goods

fell 1.1 percent.

The government's target was to keep inflation at the 1992 level of 15 percent.

The official rate was 67 percent in 1991. In the mid-1980s, inflation soared to 500
