On Monday morning, around 40 villagers in Kampong Thom province’s San Dan district gathered at the office of the provincial governor and the local forestry office to ask the authorities to allow them to continue farming on their land and release two villagers detained by forestry officials last month. “We just want to use the land as we have since 1996 and we suggested that they release two people that they arrested while they were ploughing their land,” said Keag Kong, 33.
