LAO military officials released four Cambodian men on Saturday who were arrested after illegally crossing the border from Stung Treng province into Laos’ Champasak province, officials said yesterday. Sun Ban, Commander of Battalion 701 at the Cambodia-Laos border, said that two men from Svay Rieng province were arrested on March 11 and two more men from Stung Treng province on April 28. “We promised to educate Cambodians not to cross the border illegally,” Sun Ban said, adding that the release was brokered by Stung Treng provincial governor Mao Thornin and Champasak provincial governor Sumsak Nitbuttivong.
