SINGAPORE (AP) - Senior minister Lee Kuan Yew said the current Chinese economic

slowdown will not last as long as the one in 1988, news reports said July 12.

During a visit to Shandong province in northeastern China with a trade delegation,

Lee said Beijing's last slowdown taught it to re-stimulate the economy before it

is too late, the Straits Times newspaper said.
