Lighning deaths spike in 2009: Govt

The number of people who died from being struck by lightning this year has jumped to 140, compared with only 95 deaths in 2008, said Keo Vy, communication officer at the National Committee for Disaster Management. Keo Vy also said that 59 people were injured and 38 cattle were killed by lightning during this year’s wet season.
