More than 260 medical experts will attend the International Symposium on Malaria
Control in the Mekong Region in Siem Reap from 10-13 December. The conference marks
the end of a five-year, $30 million malaria control program in Cambodia, Laos and
Vietnam, sponsored by the European Commission (EC). The EC said healthcare activities
and studies on a new, fast and cheap combination drug therapy had led to a significant
decline in the regional incidence of malaria. Final results of the study will be
presented at the meeting.
