A 28-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 30 million riels yesterday at Phnom Penh Municipal Court after being found guilty of the rape of a 16-year-old girl in 2008 in Phnom Penh. Chhay Sopheaktra was officially charged on March 27 this year after the victim filed a complaint with authorities claiming he raped her in November 2008 at a guest house in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district. Chhay Sopheaktra and his lawyers could not be reached for comments yesterday.
