The Lower Mekong countries - Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos - are to get

an early warning flood system. Plans were discussed by a team of experts from regional

governments and international agencies at a three day meeting starting February 27

in Phnom Penh. The Mekong River Commission said an early warning system was "urgently

needed". Floods killed 62 and caused millions of dollars of damage in Cambodia

last year.
