The Lower Mekong countries - Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos - are to get
an early warning flood system. Plans were discussed by a team of experts from regional
governments and international agencies at a three day meeting starting February 27
in Phnom Penh. The Mekong River Commission said an early warning system was "urgently
needed". Floods killed 62 and caused millions of dollars of damage in Cambodia
last year.
