Mine awareness

February 24 saw demining operators, humanitarian NGOs, and government convene for

the National Mine Awareness Day, an annual event in Cambodia since 1995. A televised

discussion headed by Sam Sotha, head of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority, was

aired on February 23 and 24. Dominica Hanger from the Cambodian Red Cross said the

day was a successful exchange of ideas and activities. A forum was also held on February

27 to evaluate how successful awareness programs were, and to allow demining professionals

to air their views.
