Moves to repatriate around 1,000 Montagnard refugees from two UNHCR camps in Cambodia's
northeast have been temporarily halted. The UNHCR was widely criticised over a repatriation
agreement it signed with the Cambodian and Vietnamese governments. Nineteen refugees
were voluntarily repatriated late February. UNHCR has since had difficulty getting
access to the Central Highlands in Vietnam, from where the refugees fled after an
uprising February 2001.
