Montagnards returned

Ratanakkiri police confirmed the last 11 of 60 Montagnard refugees have been forced

back to Vietnam. The refugees had fled to Cambodia on July 20 and were discovered

between Ratanakkiri and Mondolkiri provinces in November. Of the 60 people, 34 returned

home voluntarily, seven surrendered to Cambodian authorities and eight seeking the

office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees were aided by local villagers. The

final 11 were discovered when police demanded local fishermen reveal their location.
