T he Phnom Penh - Battambang rail line reopened early September and services between
the two cities could soon run three times a week, according to Li Borin, director
of Battambang's Railway Service.
Quoted in an Agence Khmer de Presse September 9, Li said 70 kilometers of track in
Battambang province destroyed by Khmer Rouge mines earlier this year had been repaired
during a three month restoration program.
Two years of concerted attacks by the KR had cost the Royal government $600,000,
Li said.
