Pirates are soldiers

F ourteen Cambodians held for piracy after a seabattle are members of the armed

forces, Thai provincial officials said on Monday.

The Cambodians are

accused of boarding Thai trawlers on the maritime border of the two countries

southwest of the Thai island Koh Kut to commit robberies.

Thai navy

gunboats came to the rescue and a fight ensued with the Thai trawlers getting

caught in the crossfire. Two of them sank along with one Cambodian vessel. -
