BANTEAY Meanchey provincial prison is facing water shortages as the number of inmates increases, NGO workers said yesterday. Chea Sothea, provincial prison researcher for rights group Licadho, said that the shortages were due to overcrowding and a lack of clean water system. “It is dry season, so it can affect their health,” said Chea Sothea. Prison Director Phean Chhorvoan said that though the prison was short of water, the prisoners’ health was fine. “We have a doctor check their health every day,” he said.
